Meet The Ltf Eye Doctors

  • Myron Lewyckyj, MD

    Dr. Lewyckyj graduated from Northwestern Honors Medical Program at Northwestern University where he completed his Ophthalmology residency. Dr. Lewyckyj also teaches cataract surgical techniques at Northwestern University. He participates in resident education at Indiana University Medical School Northwest, lecturing on neuro-ophthalmology and providing training in the physical diagnosis of the eye. He is a member of the American and Indiana Academies of Ophthalmology and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been in practice since 1992 and has performed over 10,000 cataract procedures. Besides comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery, he specializes in corneal diseases, corneal transplantation, lid lift, eyelid surgery, and LASIK vision correction. He has presented papers at major international ophthalmology eye conferences detailing novel modifications of cataract surgical techniques. Dr. Lewyckyj also participates in mission trips to the Ukraine and other countries which include performing charitable surgical procedures and physician education in other parts of the world.

  • Daniel Taglia, MD

    Dr. Taglia is a fellowship-trained specialist in glaucoma. He also specializes in cataract surgery and LASIK vision correction. He graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to attending medical school, he attended the University of Michigan Law School, and is a member of the Michigan State Bar. He then completed his medical training at the University of Michigan Medical School where he graduated near the top of class and was inducted in as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical school national honor society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Medical School, and a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. He is a member of the American and Indiana Academies of Ophthalmology, and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Along the way, he has published a number of articles in major research journals, including The Journal of Glaucoma, The Journal of Ophthalmology, and The Archives of Ophthalmology. He has also formally presented his research at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting. He has been an assistant clinical instructor of Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois ophthalmology residency program, and currently provides clinical instruction to medical students at the University of Indiana Medical School. Dr. Taglia has been in practice since 1998 and has performed thousands of surgical procedures, including cataract surgery, glaucoma surgeries, LASIK, plastic, and strabismus (lazy eye) surgeries.

  • Nandini Menon, MD

    Dr. Nandini Menon specializes in Comprehensive Ophthalmology and cataract surgery with an interest in medical retina, glaucoma, and basic lid procedures. She moved to the Chicago area in 2002, and completed her Ophthalmology training from Northwestern University. During her Chief Residency at Northwestern University, Dr. Menon established a clinic for the care of an underserved population at the Northwestern Faculty Foundation, filling a void in patient care. Prior to her residency, Dr. Menon worked at the University of Chicago, in the research division. She completed her medical training at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, and then worked as a physician for 4 years in Malaysia, including the practice of Ophthalmology.

  • Anusha Vasamsetti, MD

    Anusha Vasamsetti, MD graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine where she also completed her Ophthalmology residency. She then went on to complete her fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Previously she has been employed at Saint Louis University School of Medicine/Anheuser Busch Eye Institute in St. Louis, MO., and St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan, New York, NY. She is a board certified ophthalmologist who is licensed in Illinois and Indiana. She specializes in pediatric and adult strabismus, tear duct disorders, amblyopia, and other pediatric eye disorders and disease.

  • Richard Ireland, OD, FAAO

    Dr. Ireland is a graduate of the University of Indiana School of Optometry and has been licensed in Indiana since 1978. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has received the American Optometric Association's Optometric Recognition Award every year since 1986 for continuing education. He is also involved with the Lions Club. Dr. Ireland practices general Optometry specializing in contact lens fitting. He provides exams for patients who have lost vision by prescribing an appropriate low vision appliance to assist the patient with low vision.

    Dr. Jack graduated from the Southern College of Optometry and the University of Illinois with a BS in Biology. He has been a licensed optometrist in Indiana since 1982, where he practices comprehensive optometry, administers pediatric vision exams, and specializes in contact lens fitting.

  • Caterina Komyatte, OD

    Dr. Caterina Komyatte has lived in Highland with her husband and three children since 1997. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in South Bend, and went on to attend the University of Notre Dame—where she earned a dual Bachelor’s Degree in English and Pre-Med in 1987. She later received her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her work as a teacher led her to optometry where she could focus on vision and learning. Dr. Komyatte graduated from Illinois College of Optometry in 1996. She has sponsored vision screenings in Hammond and Schererville. She has also completed three vision care trips to Mexico and Guatemala with I-Care International. Dr. Komyatte is a member of the American Optometric Society and the Indiana Optometric Association where she served three terms as secretary. Dr. Komyatte currently practices general optometry specializing in pediatrics, ocular disease, contact lens fitting, and care and management of dry eye.

  • Nikole Schilling, OD

    Dr. Schilling, a native of Northwest Indiana, graduated as valedictorian from Lake Central High School. She went on to attend the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University School of Optometry, where she received a BS in Biology and her Doctorate of Optometry, respectively. She is a member of both the Indiana and American Optometric Associations. She is also now a member of the newly-founded ocular disease and emergencies organization, Women of Vision. Dr. Schilling practices primary care optometry with emphasis on contact lens fitting, pediatric vision exams, exams for ocular disease and emergencies, and care for low vision patients.

  • Sarah Tsagris (Baker), OD

    Dr. Tsagris is a native of Northwest Indiana, graduating from Indiana University School of Optometry with high honors. She is a member of Go Red For Women, a sisterhood of the American Heart Association. Having completed a three-month stint in Mexico, she helped to establish an optical lab and provided general eye exams. Dr. Tsagris is able to provide eye exams in Spanish. Aside from practicing general optometry, her specialties include pediatric eye exams, contact lens fitting, care and management of dry eye, and providing care to residents in long-term care facilities.
